lying scumbags or politicians?
Big news in the Ontario legislature: Some politicians lied.

Whoa.

I dont know about you, but Im flabbergasted. That a duly elected representative of the people might actually twist facts and not disclose certain truths in order to make themselves look better is truly an assault on the very nature of our democratic system. I, for one, am outraged and shocked at the lack of dignity and respect that this represents.

AhemPuh-lease.

Why everyone is in such an uproar over the news of a 5.6 billion dollar deficit that the Tories accumulated on behalf of the people of Ontario is a mystery to me. What exactly did you expect? Tax cuts and gas price freezes cost money and it had to come from somewhere. Apparently, cuts to education and healthcare werent the cash cows that the Tories were expecting. So, Premiere Eves and his cronies decided to nudge a few facts and hide the small detail that this province is seriously in debt. What else is new?

And now to the Liberals.

Ill admit it, I like the Liberals a heck of a lot more the Conservatives but I still didnt vote for them this past election. The problem with people like Dalton McGuinty is that they have no guts. You might as well call them the Quos. As in status. Ill bet my booties that nothing significant really happens over the next few years. Unless you count reneging on and delaying campaign promises. Within hours of the news of the deficit, the liberals are already treating their campaign like it was a soggy piece of napkin. Turns out, Eves was telling the truth McGuinty really is going to raise taxes. Dont all those red-supporters feel a little foolish now?

I really would have like to see what an NDP government would have done. I really liked Howard Hampton, he was a scrapper. Unfortunately, Bob Rae gave the New Democrats a bad rep years ago and its still hurting. I, on the other hand, have always associated Mr. Rae and his party with Rea Days. Im sure we all remember those - I got three weeks off for Spring vacation. Sure, I might not have recognized the fiscal and social implications of such a bad political move at the time, but what did I care? No school! Yippee! Every since then, the NDP have been for me.
