Two hours of my life I will never get back...
I have realized and accepted the fact that I am a relentless and bitter critic of the cinema.
That being said, it still doesn�t mean that �American Wedding� didn�t suck balls like a hooker on speed.
�American Pie� was a good movie. A funny movie. I laughed my ass off when I saw it, and I�ve seen it quite a few times since and I still generally laugh my ass off. It was witty and charming and original. But, as with any successful blockbuster these days, the Hollywood powers-that-be have turned it into a franchise of shit. And it�s a real disappointment.
Not that I expected much from the movie in the first place. Any three-quel that manages to squeeze its way into the theatres is very likely a dud, in my humble opinion, �Terminator 3" being but one disheartening example. However, I was in the mood for a drive-in last night and it was between that, Bad Boys 2 or half of the new Sean Connery flick. Needless to say, there wasn�t much choice.
But that a movie could actually manage go below my rock bottom expectations is quite a feat. Sure, there were a couple of gross-out, amusing moments (Stiffler definitely gets the shaft in this one) but, for the most part, the whole pathetic thing felt as if it were some high school project gone horribly wrong.
And for a critic like me, that�s being kind.
