If Wil Wheaton can find someone in this world to love him, then theres hope for us all.

Ok, I admit it; Im Next Generation Trekkie. I have probably seen every episode of ST:TNG there is to see (mostly due to the miracle of syndication and a lot of time on my hands more than any desire to be such a nerd). Deep Space Nine and Voyageur were fairly good spin-offs (I have yet to see an episode of Enterprise), but Next Generation will always be My Star Trek. My parents can keep William Shatner and green go-go dancers, thank you very much.

And Wesley Crusher: what a total geek-boy. I remember making so much fun of him, especially in my teeny-bopper days when there wasnt anything as nerdy as this tall, skinny kid running amuck on a big Federation Space Ship (except maybe for a lonely teenage girl making time for a Sci-Fi drama). When he left the show (and I remember the episode, too), I wasnt too dismayed. Sure, I might miss the teenage antics the genius space-child, but it was Wesley. Wes. Crusher boy. I still had Data and Worf to keep me entertained.

Now, years later, I managed to find my way one day to Wil Wheaton dot net. I couldnt resistwhat was my space-geek boy up to these days? Is he a pathetic, struggling actor pining for his glory days as a pubescent television icon? Does he even still have a career? Does he call himself Wes and speak into gold broaches he borrowed from his mom just to feel cool?

As it turns out, no; the web site is neat and he turned out to be a pretty interesting guy.

His site, as he will boldly explain as no other actor has explained before, isnt a self-aggrandizing infomercial dedicated to the works of Wil Wheaton. Its basically a weblog, plain and simple, as humdrum and exciting as any web log thats out there. And, as an adult, he has completely accepted the geekdom that he so naturally radiated as a child actor, making him appear confident, funny and, well.cool.

He does, apparently, have a life. He has a wife, a dog, a burgeoning career as an author and, yes, he does do Star Trek conventions. But why the Hell notits a living. Hes also got a lot to say about politics, computers and life as a geek. In any event, I find myself logging on Wil Wheaton dot net almost daily (of course, that has more to do with my finding anything to at work other than work).

Alright, so this kind of ended up being some kind of web site critique, when I originally just meant to rag on Wil Wheaton for a little while. But what can you do? Well, you can check it outvisit the geek here
